Essential Information You Should Know About the Sunrise Powerlink Grants
Check Eligibility
- To begin the process, click the “Apply” link.
- You can use the 10-digit parcel number or select it directly from the interactive map displayed to locate your parcel.
- Once a parcel is selected, its details will appear below the map.
- If your parcel qualifies for the application, you’ll notice a blue “apply” link adjacent to the parcel information.
- This procedure is intended for desktop computer users—click “APPLY” to start filling out the online application. Note: Mobile devices cannot access the application through the blue ‘Apply’ link.
- If your parcel is eligible and you prefer to receive a paper application, you can request one to be mailed to you via the US Postal Service by clicking the “Request Application” link.
Application Process
- Eligible parcel owners may apply once for the year 2025 for either Defensible Space or Structure Hardening. Click Here
- Applications are available at the Grants Program office or can be requested by phone.
- “Before” photos of the project area taken in 2025 are required.
- Completed applications will/must be submitted by March 7, 2025, 5:00 PM PST.
- The application status remains “UNDER REVIEW” until grant award notifications are emailed between March 31 and April 4, 2025.
- If there are some issues with your application, you will be notified and must correct them by the specified deadline.
- Must be completed on a personal computer; mobile devices are not supported.
- An incomplete application will not be considered in any case and will be disqualified.
- Applicants will receive a confirmation email from donotreply@sunrisepowerlinkgrants.com once the application is submitted.
Complete Application Content
- The application must include all answered questions, signed forms, and readable uploads.
- Must include “Before” photos taken in 2025, following specific directions in the application.
- A legible, signed W-9 form from 2024 must be provided.
- Incomplete applications may result in disqualification.

Review of Applications & Grant Selections
SPFMG will evaluate applications based on completeness and content requirements.
Grants can go up to $2,640
Selection Criteria
- Location: Proximity to Sunrise Powerlink affects scores, with overhead locations scoring the highest.
- Grant Frequency: Scores depend on the number of successful grants received from 2020-2024.
- Fire Threat Severity: Evaluated using CAL FIRE’s FRAP map, considering fire frequency and potential fire behavior.
Scoring System
- Total Parcel Score is calculated by adding scores from Location, Grant Frequency, and Fire Threat Severity.
- Applications are ranked and selected based on their Total Parcel Score.
- Decisions are final, and there is no appeal process.
General Information
- Eligibility and scoring details are mailed to homeowners through the US Postal Service.
- Submission of an application doesn't guarantee receipt of a grant.
Reimbursement Program
Homeowners are responsible for arranging and completing approved grant project work.
The Sunrise Powerlink Fire Mitigation Grants Program does not conduct the work or provide the services required for an approved grant.
Reimbursements are issued after the project is completed, and an administrative review confirms that all documents related to the program—such as work completion forms, paid receipts, and project work inspections—meet the required standards and are submitted on time.
